The St David's Day website can be found here, giving details of the march through Caerdydd/Cardiff and other stuff.

http://www.stdavidsday.org/

There might be some ideas here which can be stolen for the St Andrew's Day version.

Was wondering what flag to have, but not entirely sure St Andrew's flag is necessarily appropriate on David's day (or vice versa). Maybe a lion rampant or other Scottish flag, rather than a saint's flag.

I wonder what other people think.

A saltire would be better, as currently it is most representive of the Scottish people, and since you are scottish and showing solidarity you wouldn't just be symbolic of carrying the flag for yourself. If you were carrying your Celtic League flag, which I've seen you carrying a few times, it'd be YOU on behalf of the Celtic League. Which would be cool, but if you carried a saltire, you'd be making a statement from a lot more ordinary people. The Saltire, fortunately, has never been the flag of the oppressor, but of the oppressed and the ordinary.

The Saltire, in my opinion, has been a symbol of the ordinary Scots, and not an apology from history, like the Butchers Apron is: "We're sorry we massacred you. This isn't a racist flag." I like the fact that the saltire is a humble "cross in the sky" thing rather than "this is who we are superimposed on who we conquered." (I.e. St Georges Flag superimposed on Saltire and St Paddy's flag).

It is a toss up between CL and St A's, and there's a case for both, but it's Dewi Sant's day though!

Maybe albagubeavis can carry the saltire, and I can carry the CL flag - which would cover both bases.

If required I can send my Bratachdubh down for Beavis with you SR - What do folk think? It'd be great if either of you could rustle up another standard bearer for a CL, Saltire and Bratachdubh to be flown.

No, nothing. No one's got back to me.

I'm going down early Friday, so it shall have to be with me by end of Thursday. I'm not sure about poles though, because I'm flying... (Last time I went down by train, which was pretty horrific!)

SR, PM me when you know. I have one of those retractable poles so that might be ok....I'll be happy to meet up with you so you can take delivery of it.

Udo Erasmus -
St David's Day - COUNTER DEMO
As we know over the last few years the nationalists have stepped up their attempts to impose conformity and their bigotted ideology on our locale, they will be using St David's Day to impose the idea that Wales is a nation cosily united - rich and poor - against English oppression and waving their flags. They will be attempting to construct a 'welsh identity' that never existed and various other ideas that mystify social reality, class division and block the forming of genuine grassroots culture based on solidarity and diy principles.

It's time to organise a class war counter parade stating clearly -

No nations! No borders!
Internationalism and solidarity!
The working class has no country!
Somebody welsh on the minimum wage has more in common with an english or polish worker than a welsh millionaire!
We will create our own culture from below that is fluid and dynamic not have some fake culture based on nationalism, patriotism and other authoritarian and servile crap forced upon us.

Aye right...

Ben Bore

Udo Erasmus - "sport is one of the biggest capitalist rackets on the planet and at school was based on national socialist ideas of the body and fitness."

Ah, now we're getting to the bottom of this, he was rubbish at sports at school, a true social outcast.

Tis nice to be told that I'm a biggot for feeling Welsh.

Tell you what, the slogan of 'One World, One Nation (or what ever you;ll be calling it' really freaks me out. Does diversity not agree with you then?

That Udo Erasmus is a complete clown..... I think he wants to ban everything that has the slightest bit of fun attached and have people live his way !! :wtf:

Wanting to ban sports as capitalist and then say that Chairman Mao would swi the Yangtze and then long march if he needed exercise :um-no:

Something tells me he would be welcome though outside the QMU in Glasgow

oh aye - and he says that Nationalism leads to National Socalism and therefore we are all Nazi's and he's even put a Nazi party gathering pic on his post to make the point

But we have to ask where this flag waving is leading:

Was it Montrose that said on here "the first person to mention the Nazis, is losing the argument"? Something like that.

Some groups do have Nazi connections, or overtones, for sure - like the BNP, but Plaid and the SNP don't.

Moreover, Udo Erasmus belongs to a party whose leader went on Big Brother! How commercial and cheap is that?

But it would still be St Andrew's Cross by any other name.

That's my point.
