Interesting math.
Cars registered in Scotland = 2.5 million at an average 150 each. (Now we're excluding lorries and motorcycles here)
That's 375,000,000 pounds......... (But it's PAID TO WESTMINSTER)
Now Scottish road spending currently runs about 150,000,000 pounds annually.
So - Scottish motorists give Westminster 225,000,000 pounds each year.
NOW - if that sum was kept we could INCREASE current infrastructure spending by three times the inflation rate and pay for the darned replacement bridge in TWO YEARS with NO INTEREST PAYMENT. UNION DIVIDEND ANYONE?.
It then becomes a simple bidding process, BEST and LOWEST bid wins with the rider that 70% of materials and labour must be SCOTTISH - thereby fuelling the Scots economy.
Is there a problem with our math??
