It will come as no surprise that England’s only political National Party the English Democrats was formed as late as 2002. England up to then being the only one of the so called home nations not to have a political National Party. Was that something to do with colonialism or even imperialism of the British State.
The English Democrats support Independence for Scotland. Where does this leave UKIP? UKIP appear as a re-branding of far right conservatism. They appear to be fighting elections on one mandate. Leaving the EU. The United Kingdom as they know it long before this year’s referendum on Scottish Independence died. The walls are coming tumbling down around the UK as a state government representative of its constituent parts.
If there is a referendum on EU membership which is very likely and Scotland votes to stay then UKIP may need to look at what independence party it actually represents.
