I can only presume Glasgow council had something similar to the following.
Funding offers communities chance to celebrate Queen’s Diamond Jubilee 20/03/12 Local groups that plan to organise a community event to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee are being invited to apply for special funding from Aberdeen City Council.
The City Council approved the spending of £50,000 for appropriate community events in Aberdeen to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee as part of the Common Good Fund budget for 2012/13.
To qualify community groups must meet the following criteria:
the event must take place within Aberdeen for the benefit of a community; funding can only be used for the purposes of entertainment, venue hire, transport, staffing or catering. No part of the funding can be spent on the provision of alcohol; community groups must provide a brief report and receipts for all expenditure and submit them to the Council within a month of the event taking place; the funding must be for the benefit of all in the community; events should be held and funding spent by end of June 2012; event organisers are responsible for ensuring that they comply with all regulations such as entertainment licences and health & safety. Failure to comply with any of the above criteria would result in the application for funding being denied or a request by Aberdeen City Council for repayment of any funds awarded.
Colin Wright, of the Council's Education, Culture and Sport communities team said: "We would encourage any group or community that is considering organising a community event to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee to get in touch. There is £50,000 available and we would be delighted to see it go to as many groups and communities as possible."
