Just happened to be browsing through and sadly saw the post. Had many good discussions with Niall over the years, very opinionated had the knack of being able to talk just about anything nationalistic and Scottish . Funny, I can still see him standing there with his walking stick, will be dearly missed. RIP my friend.

All The Very Best.

He did superb work on the economy, proving that Scotland was only "subsidised" for nine of the 300+ years of Union. Needless to say the "subsidy" related to the construction of Fort George in the aftermath of the '45.

Niall another unsung hero who did a vast amount of work behind the scenes with regards to the fiscal state of Scotland past and present challanging the fiscal accounts of the Treasury at Westminster with regards to money being spent and taken in Scotland. Another lad taken before their dream of Independence is realised, rest in peace brother knowing that your dream will be realised soon

Niall was a valued member of Siol for many years, and his contributions were both accurate and enlightening. Jackie Stokes and I met him at his request in the grounds of Arbroath Abbey some 15 years or so ago, and he was quickly recruited into Siol after displaying his depth of knowledge and understanding of the Scottish economy, and how we were being robbed and lied to by Westminster. Despite suffering very poor health for at least the last 10 years, he made many valid points well and many members will treasure their memories of erudite meetings with him and Grace, his wife and constant companion. Our hearts go out to Grace and his daughter, and our sympathies are with them in this time of loss. Sleep well, old friend. The struggle continues.
