 Post subject: The Last of the Mohicans

Was watching this last night and forgotten what a good historical film this is.

Okay it's not a Scottish film but it boasts a decent Celtic folk based soundtrack. The main theme is based on a Dougie MacLean tune, and there's also music by Clannad in there. (There's several Scottish characters in it including a Scottish soldier played by Maurice Roewes)

There's also decent battle/action sequences, beautiful American scenery and relatively unsentimental portrayal of native Americans. A few anti-yBritish bits.

Yes I was watching that film as well with my family, great film great music,great action and the sad bit when then lassie goes over the cliff rather than live with the Indians!

It's really demoralising when women would rather throw themselves off a cliff than go out with you.

It's a film I've never fancied, to be honest...but Scottish Republican's description has changed that.

Will keep my eyes peeled for the DVD when next scouring the charity shops.

love the film and love the soundtrack.

I think p.b.ellis often describes the celts as the north american indians of europe in many of his books.

Just hate that period of history , suppression of scotland and the brit empire on the rise.

class film though.

I have women throwing themselves at me all the time, which is a bit difficult when they're thirty stone, and snap your spine in three places.
